From Biella to Oropa Fraction Favaro follow signs to parking sanctuary, take the cable car
ITINERARY
On arrival go to the Mucrone Lake, follow the signs and you will reach the start (1,950 m). Climb the first jump which has numerous vertical passages; the second portion, shorter, part with a chimney on the left of a jump of rock and ends on a grassy ridge, it follows briefly until the base of a new jump of rock salt where the third section that begins a bit 'to the left and ends with a small rope bridge; immediately after the suspension bridge begins the fourth jump, pushing out of the via ferrata (approximately 2,230 m). From here a path leads to the top via the back where there is a large metal cross. On top there is very big concrete memorial (2,335 m).
DESCENT
Follow the path of the normal route (Route D24) that runs along the north ridge of the mountain, passing to the left of the ruined station of arrival of the old cableway Mucrone and goes down to the Bocchetta del Lago (2,026 m). From here you go down to the right (North-East), we pass by Lake Mucrone (m1.902) and you arrive at the cable car to go down to Oropa.
NOTE. From the cable car that starts behind the sanctuary. There are two possibilities: the first is more challenging and is to reach Lake Mucrone; from here you take the path through some ups and downs on very steep fields (fixed ropes in the summer) to the basin at the base of the Parete Piacenza, near which is the start of the ferrata. The second possibility is longer, but easier: is to drive down the dirt / Ski piste up to the aforementioned deviation in the report and going up to the start with the D11b itinerary.
