ACCESS
From Biella to Frazione Favaro follow the sign to the Santuario di Oropa, to the station and cable car parking.
ITINERARY
Upon arrival at the cable car up following the directions lodge Coda / Via Ferrata Ciao Miki, you reach the Col Chardon (m. 2221). The start of the ferrata is just after the hill and is marked by a signpost and along the jagged ridge and the towers that leads to the left to Monte Mars.
The path, despite the exposure is significant, is well equipped and difficulties in some places are to be mitigated and you can proceed with confidence. You face this first part by climbing alternately: on small dihedral, a little to the right and to the left; spikes and emerging rocks; short vertical plaques, sometimes slightly overhanging and some small slanting roof. When you overcome the top you lose altitude, descending on the opposite side you can spot the steel cable in the distance. Continue along the second vertical section interspersed with short distances of high trail, sometimes very exposed. Care must be taken in the event of moisture or wet, together with the grass (proceed with caution). Go along the ridge trail equipped with a "thick rope," the Ferrata ends. Continuing between unstable rocks and downs, you reach the top of Mount Mars (2,600 m). The landscape ranges between Monte Rosa, Cervino, Bianco, Gran Paradiso, Monte Viso and on special days you manage to see the Apennines.
