The Granfondo Sestriere Colle delle Finestre offers cycling enthusiasts two routes that take in the most beautiful Alpine locations in the Susa and Chisone valleys, as well as the main peaks of the Via Lattea ski area in the Olympic Mountains of Turin 2006. Both routes include the ascent of the legendary Colle delle Finestre and cover: • Granfondo: 103.6 km, 3,170 m elevation gain.• Mediofondo: 79.0 km, 2,370 m elevation gain. The route starts in Cesana heading towards Oulx, then Salbertrand, Exilles, Chiomonte, Gravere and Susa. From here, the climb to Colle delle Finestre begins via Meana di Susa. From the pass, the route descends to Balboutet and then on to Pourrieres, Pragelato and Sestriere, the finish line for the medium-distance route. The Gran Fondo continues down to Sauze di Cesana before climbing back up to the finish in Sestriere via Cesana. Competitors are free to choose the route best suited to their abilities during the event, provided they always pass through the designated checkpoints along the routes; failure to do so will result in exclusion from the final classification. The Granfondo Sestriere Colle delle Finestre is a competitive cycling event; therefore, strict compliance with the rules of the Highway Code is mandatory. Competitors overtaken by the ‘End of Race’ vehicle are required to comply with the rules of the Highway Code. The organisers do not guarantee road supervision beyond the maximum time limit.
